THE WINDY CITY COME’S CALLING ……
We are delighted to announce that following her contribution to the film ‘Its gd 2 tlk..’ Amy Liddignton, aged 17, from Porth County Community School has been offered a full scholarship to attend the 5 week MediaBridge project in Chicago. Amy worked really hard on the Zoom film ‘Its gd 2 Tlk…’ and this paid off with the film winning the Audience Award at the Zoom Festival 2007. As if that wasn’t enough Zoom were then contacted by Facets Media in Chicago who run the MediaBridge Script writing and Festival Project asking for application and Amy’s was successful – we can’t tell you how proud we are of Amy and wish her a all the best for her trip to Chicago and we can’t wait to hear all about it on her return.
SHINE FILM AWARDS
Lisa Davies, Director of Zoom, was delighted to be asked to present an award at the First Shine Awards. The awards were set up by Llamau, a charity working with homeless Young people in South Wales to build confidence and provide skills they can use to step into the right direction with their life. Having done some workshops at the Risca Safehouse in late 2006 Lisa has seen first hand the difference Llamau and film making can have on the young people. Lisa presented the Award to Cerys James from Caerphilly for her film ‘What the Duck?’ which won the Best Wildlife Documentary Category.
FETSIVAL VOLUNTEERS OFFERED TWO WEEKS IN FRANCE!
During Zoom 07 we were lucky enough to have two fantastic volunteers, Jack Phillips from the Swansea Valley and Tom Alcott from Merthyr Tydfil, and because of their hard work Zoom has now offered them to be part of the Young Europeans Film Forum (YEFF!) 2007, which takes place in France. It’s a two week all expenses paid Film Making conference which involves Young people from all over Europe making films about cultural diversity.
