Zoom gear up for their second search for Wales’ Young Film Talent
On the 19th July at the Blackwood Miners Institute, as part of a ‘Best of the Fest’ evening, Zoom will be launching the search for the Zoom Young Filmmakers Award 2008 sponsored by the Film Agency for Wales. Following on from the success of 2007 where Zoom received over 40 films made by young people across Wales, they are now inviting entries for the 2008 Awards.
There will be 10 different awards, so many more chances to be a winner, the categories are; Best Film age 8 – 13; Best Film age 14 – 25; Best Performance; Best Direction; Best Animation; Best Documentary; Best Fiction; Best Welsh Language; Zoom Audience Award and the Zoom Award which will be presented to the film that the Grand Jury feel most represents the spirit of Zoom. The closing Date for entries is the 1st October 2007. To enter you need to download an Entry form from www.zoomcyrmu.com or call the Zoom office on 01443 497 166 and they will post one out to you.
Dan Thomas from the Film Agency for Wales says: "With a remit to promote a vibrant film culture in Wales that embraces the economic, cultural and educational aspects of film, we are delighted to be supporting the Zoom Young Filmmaker Awards once again in 2008. Lisa Davies, Director of Zoom goes on to say ‘The Awards were a huge success at last years Zoom Festival and we are so pleased to be launching the 2008 Awards at the Blackwood Miners Institute, everyone needs to put the 10th February (when the Award winners will be announced at the Muni Arts Centre) in their diary, it promises to be an evening not to be missed.’
